I graduated 3rd in Biology in 2001 (University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece) and joined the two–year postgraduate program in ‘Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (University of Crete-Department of Biology and Foundation for Research and Technology-Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology-IMBB-, Heraklion, Crete, Greece). Upon the completion of the program on 2003, I started my PhD in IMBB having secured a national grand (PENED -01ΕΔ119) and an EMBO scholarship (Ref:179.00-2007). My D.Phil. thesis on metalloregulated transcription in Saccharomyces cerevisiae was completed on 2008 under the supervision of Assistant Professor Despina Alexandraki and revealed a new role of Rad9 cell cycle checkpoint protein in Mac1-regulated transcription. In 2009 I was employed, as a post doctorate Research Fellow in ΙΜΒΒ under the supervision of Professor A. Eliοpoulos (INFLA-CARE: Understanding inflammation-associated tumorigenesis for the rational design of novel anti-cancer therapeutic strategies. Contract No 223151). This gave me the opportunity to collaborate with scientists from other Institutes in Greece and abroad and publish my work on high-impact journals. In parallel, from 2006 to 2012 I worked as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics (Technical University of Crete) teaching “Cellular Biology” and “Biochemistry”. On March 2012 I joined TransPOT (TransPOT: Enhancing University of Crete Medical School Scientific Excellence and Translational Research Potential in Human Diseases Contract No 285948) and started working at Medical School (University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece) on colitis and colitis associated cancer. Since 2013 I have established Embiodiagnostics ( and my aim is to combine my academic research experience with practical health promoting applications. Recently, I launched GENOSOPHY®, a set of advanced genetic tests in the field of nutrigenomics, athletics, pediatric nutrition, wellness and genetic predisposition of various diseases. GENOSOPHY® offers practical and valuable information that allows subjects to adopt a personalized nutritional and lifestyle plan. It is a bloodless, painless and convenient test based mostly on genotyping and telomere length counting as well as in design based and consumer friendly visualisation methods
